Sights in Spain – the megaliths
In the literal translation from Greek the term means “big stone”. The term is not scientific and therefore in the group of megaliths include a lot of different stone buildings, the manufacture of which is determined by the era, before the advent of writing.
Megalithic monuments can be found on the entire globe, except the Australian continent. They are, as a rule, on the coasts of seas and oceans. The Megaliths Of Spain.
Verraco – megalithic sculptural monuments made of granite stone and depicting animals, unique to Spain. They were first found in the Western part of the plain area in the mountains of ávila, Zamora and Salamanca. Altogether there are about 400 pieces. In Spanish the word “verraco” means “wild boar”, but sometimes you can see images of other animals such as bears or bulls. Religious and religious significance of the megaliths.
